Rodgers hopeful of keeping Dembele amid Manchester United link

Brendan Rodgers has said there will come a period when Moussa Dembele leaves Celtic for a greater club, yet right now he is sure the forward is going no place.

Dembele, 20, has scored 16 objectives in 24 appearances since moving to Celtic from Fulham in the mid year, prompting to reported enthusiasm from Manchester United, yet Rodgers told talkSPORT a move is not on the cards.

"Him and his operator, they need to learn and they need to create. They could have gone to various clubs in the mid year and got way, way more cash than up here. Be that as it may, he needs to attempt and do it the correct way.

He needs to get encounters at a major club, learn, create and afterward there most likely will be a period when he will proceed onward. In decency to him, he has been completely incredible. Be that as it may, he marked a four-year bargain here and he is just a couple of months into it.

We are all practical here. That was a piece of my part coming into here, tolerating that on the off chance that you have beat gifts they might be here for two or three years and proceed onward. You have seen it with [Victor] Wanyama, with [Virgil] Van Dijk and Ki [Sung-yueng].

"He has just truly quite recently come in, he cherishes it here. It is an enormous club, he gets revered here, he is playing Champions League football and he is super getting a charge out of this procedure of learning and playing for a major club.

"I'm certain eventually later down the line it might happen, yet it is positively not something we are taking a gander at now."
