Give Buhari a chance to put an end to Niger Delta crisis – Clark tells militants

An Ijaw pioneer, Chief Edwin Clark, has asked Niger Delta activists to allow President Muhammadu Buhari to alter the issues in the district. 


He expressed that the present organization had indicated genuineness of reason towards determining the emergency in the Niger Delta. 





Clark, who additionally serves as the pioneer of the Pan Niger Delta Forum which as of late met with the President, charged that a few lawmakers inside and outside the district were supporting activists to ruin the exchange group drove by him. 


He expressed this amid a meeting on Friday in Warri, Delta State. 


The senior statesman encouraged the activists to end the bombings of oil establishments in the area. 


He expressed, "We concurred that Niger Delta has endured disregard throughout the years even as far back as 1958 preceding Independence. That was the reason the Willink's Commission and the Niger Delta Development Board were initiated in 1958. 


"At that point Umaru Yar'Adua came, we were there. Gbaramatu was ablaze. My pulse ascended from 100 to 160. We got acquittal and I need to watch that the reprieve has done a considerable measure for our young men. Twenty-three of the young men who went on grant to Britain got second Class Upper degree and four of them First Class. 


"The question is, the thing that do we need, especially these young men? What are they searching for? They are adversaries of the general population. They are offenders. You have not sat tight for the exchange to happen. At that point you have ulterior intentions. 


"Through the help of the Minister of State for Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu, I drove an appointment to Mr. President on November 1. We were around a hundred who displayed our case. In the event that the President had no enthusiasm for the area, he wouldn't meet with us.'' 


Clark asked the Federal Government to be careful about self-serving legislators from the area set on bringing on disarray in the locale.
